Highlights of the tour

The trip starts from its capital Santiago before flying north to Calama to experience the Atacama Desert. Then, fly south to the Chilean Lake District, a lovely region of alpine lakes, pine-clad mountains and snow-capped volcanoes. Then it is Torres del Paine National Park, rated by many as the most scenic in the South American continent.

Day 2

Morning, enjoy some free time before a half-day city tour of Santiago’s city downtown. Start from Santa Lucía Hill, then, descend to visit the Lastarria neighbourhood with small cafes and bistros. Visit the La Moneda Palace, and walk to Plaza de Armas to find the most historical buildings – Cathedral Church of Santiago, the Central Post Office and the National Historical Museum, the former “Real Audiencia” or Spanish Royal Court. End the evening at the lively and artsy Bellavista Neighbourhood, and soak in the vibrant nightlife and gastronomy haven!

Day 3

Drive through coastal scenery to the seaside resort of Vina del Mar and head to the beach town of Renaca. Drive to the bay of Valparaiso (UNESCO World Heritage Site) for a tour of this busy port city. Visit La Sebastiana, one of Pablo Neruda´s three homes in Chile, now a Museum. Then, the “Artillería” lift will take you to the 21 de Mayo lookout point. Stroll the charming streets of Cerro Concepción, and see its Anglican and Lutheran churches.

Day 4

Have an easy morning before your flight to Calama.

Upon arrival, be met and transfer to your all-inclusive lodges with a range of excursions to choose from.

Atacama

Day 5-6

Based in this quaint town in the driest desert in the world, have a plethora of excursions of a range of difficulty levels to choose from! Hike, horse-ride or take 4-wheel drives into giant sand dunes, jagged canyons, salt pillars, boiling geysers, smoking volcanos or take a visit to the local villages.

Atacama / Calama / Puerto Montt / Puerto Varas

Day 7

Drive to Calama to fly to Puerto Montt.

Begin a tour of Puerto Montt, located on the shore of the Pacific Ocean. Visit its cathedral, the colourful seafood market where fishermen go about their daily business and the handicrafts market of Angelmó. Drive to Puerto Varas.

Puerto Varas

Day 8

Head straight towards Petrohué through Ensenada, entering the Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park. The road continues east along the Petrohué River Valley, flanked by thick forest and old lava fields. Take walks around the Petrohué Falls. End this visit reaching the town of Petrohué on the banks of the Todos Los Santos Lake (All Saints).

Puerto Varas / Chiloe Island / Puerto Varas

Day 9

Travel to Chiloé Island, a place full of traditions and mysticism. Drive to Pargua, ferry across the Chacao Channel for 30 minutes and arrive in Chacao, a small village doorway to the Chiloé Island.

 

Continue to Caulín, a small fishermen cove, known for its oyster farming and the variety of birds. In Ancud, have time to enjoy of the unique gastronomy of the area. Afternoon, continue towards Mar Brava to enjoy a beautiful secluded beach along with the big waves from the Pacific Ocean.

The Cliffs Preserve Extension

DAY 07 CALAMA / PUERTO MONTT / CLIFFS PRESERVE

DAY 08/09/10 CLIFFS PRESERVE
Immerse in this exceptional ecological resort with over 4000 hectares of temperate rainforest and 6 miles of Pacific coast! Enjoy healthy produce and gourmet meals straight from the organic farm, take a full day out sport fishing, hike along quiet trails amidst magnificent surrounds, ride horses or simply indulge in a spa or wellness treatment.

DAY 09   PUERTO VARAS / CHILOE ISLAND / CASTRO
Head to Pargua, ferry across the Chacao Channel for 30 minutes and arrive in Chacao, a small village doorway to the Chiloé Island for your exploration. Transfer to Refugia Lodge, located along the northern shore of the Bay of Pullao, on the Rilan Peninsula, some 18 km from the town of Castro, on the banks of the Dalcahue Channel.

DAY 10/11   REFUGIA LODGE

Spend two days in the warm hospitality of Refugia, immerse in Chiloé. You can hike into the islands through native forests, bike along rolling hills, horse-back ride to the top for views of the fiord, boat to the channels and fiords of Castro, visit ranges etc.

DAY 12-15   REFUGIA LODGE / CASTRO / PUERTO MONTT / PUNTA ARENAS

Drive to Castro airport for your onward flight.

Day 11-12

Choose your excursions from a range of treks, horseback rides and trails. The Park was declared a World Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO for its singular beauty and ecology. Learn the unique way of life of its human inhabitants: the gauchos and their estancias (ranches).

Punta Arenas / Santiago / Hong Kong

Day 13

Transfer to Punta Arenas for your flight back to Hong Kong via Santiago.
